Kilninver Primary is a mainstream, non-denominational school catering for boys and girls of all stages P1-P7. Kilninver currently offers 600 hours of funded Early Learning and Childcare provision for children who have reached their third birthday. In August 2020 we aim to offer 1140 hours of funded provision.
The accommodation comprises of an office, two main classrooms and a general-purpose hall, used for ELC provision and lunch-time dining. The school ground comprises a tarred playground area, purpose built poly-tunnel, fenced ELC outdoor space and a hill-side garden.
Kilninver Primary School serves a wide rural area to the south of Oban. Most pupils are transported to school, the majority coming from Kilmelford seven miles away. Others live in smaller settlements within the catchment area, which extends from Knipoch to the north of the school to Arduaine to the south, also taking in Scammadale Glen to the east and Clachan Seil to the west.
There are currently 29 pupils attending Kilninver Primary School. Pupils are taught in composite classes, P1-4 and P5-7. The school aims to provide a balanced and differentiated curriculum which meets the needs of all its pupils, enriched by our weekly forest schools program and nurture based approaches.
Kilninver Primary School works in partnership with a range of external agencies and community partners to enhance our provision. These include Active Schools, Childsmile, Youth Engagement Officer, Educational Psychologist, Social Work and the Forestry Commission.
